Forest God Fantasy Photoshoot | Doing Two Photoshoots in One

Fantasy photography cosplay of an androgynous forest king

This fantasy photoshoot of a forest king came out absolutely beautiful!

This shoot was such a blast, and is SFW so I get to share the whole set!

Two Photoshoots in One

To maximize your lighting setup and time in the studio, consider doing two photoshoots in one.

Start with the simpler set, simpler hair and simpler makeup. The second shoot should have the more elaborate makeup.

Remember that it’s easier to build than to remove.

This strategy works even faster when the two shoots use the same lighting setup and backdrop, but of course feel free to switch it up between photoshoots.

Have you ever done 2+ shoots at once? What looks can you think of that would work well being shot on the same day? What shoot looks are complementary?

Can you guess what the second set in this double shoot was?

This cosplay of Sabrina from The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was such a great way to spend the afternoon!

This wedding dress from the photography wardrobe was perfect for a Dark Baptism and was a great fit for a Sabrina Spellman cosplay

This shoot was also the perfect time to shoot with the old Nikon DSLR and test out the studio’s new SD card reader, which transfers raw images from the DSLR right into my phone for editing!

🖤

What photo shoots have you been dying to do lately? Any cosplays in the works?

♥️

The studio finally has a breast plate in the wardrobe!

I’ve been collecting silicone pieces for use in boudoir shoots for some time now, so it’s very exciting to have these breast forms added to the wardrobe.

What’s your favorite, unconventional addition to your studio?

Armor, fake weaponry, etc?

Let me know in the comments and stay tuned for this set to drop in the coming months!

Floral Photoshoot | Blue Fantasy

Makeup is a very important part of portrait photography, especially boudoir and glamour photography.

Not that a model must have a full face of makeup on, but that the makeup can make or break a shoot, as well as have shooting concerns.

📷

This eye makeup is very bold, and needed a light, bright set. When shot against darker backdrops, the makeup looked much more harsh, as did the photos themselves.

Harsher makeup can still be beautiful, it just may not fit the theme of the photoshoot.

Darker makeup needs a brighter light/set to cut harshness.

An overdrawn lip may look disproportionate at certain angles and perfect at others.

False lashes may only show up in certain angles.

As we do our makeup or provide direction for the makeup artist, we must keep in mind the set, the theme, the mood, and the angles.

Simple Editing | Phone Portrait Photography

I don’t know about you, but I don’t have as much time or space in the photography studio as I used to.

Gone are the days of using a DSLR, desktop/laptop editing, swapping out lenses and dressing a set.

(For now, at least)

As space and time get constricted, and camera phone quality continues to improve, the transition to shooting and editing portraits on a cellphone came naturally.

📷 📱

Editing doesn’t have to be complicated, especially on your phone.

So follow me as I do a quick, routine portrait edit for a flapper-themed boudoir photoshoot, shot and edited on an iPhone 6s.

This is the original, straight out of camera shot.

We’re going to run this through the convenient (and free) Lightroom app so that we have a consistent look throughout the rest of the shoot.

Boost the colors and contrast.

You can see where the backdrop ends and the studio wall is showing, so right in the photo gallery editing section we’re going to use the marker tool to fix that.

For the last step, we’re going to smooth skin, boost select details, and add some blur, reminiscent of a shallower depth of field given by DSLR lenses. For this, I use Facetune.

And here’s the finished portrait, shot and edited on a phone with simple tools.

We can get more complex later, but we don’t need to go all out when we shoot and edit portraits.

📸

When we lack the space, time, and even finances to do shoots with a DSLR,

camera phone photography and self portraits are a great way to make some beautiful work.
